PlatformSocial Listening

Real posts, real authors, at the level a conversation actually moves.

Hashtags, mentions and keywords tracked from licensed post-level data on Instagram, X and Threads, refreshed every 30 minutes. Narrative clusters and author-type breakdowns, not a vanity mention count.

The three hours before anyone calls you

A complaint thread starts forming at 9:12pm on a Tuesday.

By the time it reaches a journalist it is a story. Here is what the three hours before that look like.

  1. 21:12

    One post

A customer posts a photo of a swollen pack on X with your hashtag. On its own, this is noise, hundreds of posts a week look like this.

  2. +8 min

    Collected on the next cycle

The poll runs, and it arrives with six others from the same window. Every row is a real post with a real timestamp, not an index estimate.

  3. +15 min

    Authors typed

Of the seven, five are first-time posters about your brand, one is a regional news account and one is a complaint aggregator. That mix matters more than the count.

  4. +40 min

    A cluster forms

Your hashtag starts co-occurring with a food-safety tag. That co-occurrence, not the raw volume, is the first honest sign this is about one issue.

  5. +2 hrs

    Velocity crosses your baseline

38 posts against a normal 12 an hour. Because each row is a real post, this is a real spike, and it is safe to treat as one.

  6. +2 hrs 4 min

    A crisis opens at Attention

Not critical, social alone doesn't earn that. The brief separates what is known from what isn't, and a holding statement is drafted from the facts.

What it watches

Everything feeding this layer.

Three platforms are tracked live, at post level. Everything else is labelled as discovery, so you always know which tier of data you're reading.

How it works

From raw signal to something you can act on.

  1. 01

    Licensed, at post level

Instagram, X and Threads are collected directly as posts with real timestamps and authors, not inferred from a search index that can't tell a new post from a re-crawl.

  2. 02

    Clustered, not just counted

Posts group into narrative clusters and hashtag co-occurrences, so a regulatory-risk conversation forming across three tags is visible while it's still small.

  3. 03

    Authors classified

Complaint aggregator, news account, creator or ordinary customer. Four hundred comments read as what they actually are, rather than as one flat number.

What you get

Social Listening, in full.

Hashtag clusters

Which tags rise together, and whether a conversation is jumping platforms or staying put.

Author intelligence

Tell forty angry customers apart from one aggregator posting forty times.

Posting-time heat map

When your audience actually posts about you, by hour and weekday, not a flattened weekly average.

A trustworthy velocity signal

Because every row is a real post, a spike here is real, and safe to escalate on. Index-based counts are not.

Share of conversation

Your volume against every tracked competitor, measured the same way on both sides.

Live versus discovery, labelled

Where a platform only permits index-level discovery, the tile says so instead of quietly mixing it in.

Who it's for

The same layer, three different jobs.

PR & comms agencies

Spot the client crisis first

Per-client listening with velocity against each brand's own baseline, so the call comes from you rather than from their CEO.

Brand & marketing

Read a campaign honestly

Author types and clusters show whether a spike is genuine reach or the same twenty accounts, before it goes in a report.

Consumer & quality teams

Catch a product issue forming

Complaint clusters and co-occurring safety tags surface a batch problem while it's still a handful of posts.

What this deliberately doesn't do

Every monitoring tool's page is wall-to-wall claims. Here is where the honest line sits.

  • No engagement or reach on third-party postsPlatforms don't expose likes, shares or impressions for content that isn't yours. We say so on the tile rather than printing an invented proxy.
  • Unique authors, only where reportedWhere a platform withholds author identity, we show the gap instead of reporting one unique voice and hoping nobody checks.
  • Facebook and LinkedIn are discovery onlyLive third-party listening on those platforms isn't available to anyone. What we can see is public posts through search indexes, and it's labelled that way.
Connected

Works with the rest of the platform.

Social Listening isn't a standalone tool. It feeds, and is fed by, every other layer Brillaince tracks.

Questions

About Social Listening.

Which platforms are tracked live?

Instagram, X and Threads, at post level. Facebook, LinkedIn, Reddit and Quora appear as discovery-tier results and are labelled separately so the two are never blended.

Why can't I see reach or impressions?

Because the platforms don't provide it for posts that aren't yours, to anyone. A tool showing you a reach number for a stranger's post is estimating. We'd rather show volume you can defend.

How fast can the refresh go?

30 minutes by default, 15 minutes on Command tier, and it tightens automatically while a crisis is open on your own brand.

Can I track any brand's hashtag, or only my own?

Any brand's. Competitor hashtag and keyword tracking runs on the same basis as your own, which is what makes share of conversation meaningful.

Does it pick up Stories or private accounts?

No. Public posts only, which is both the legal position and the honest one.
